Glazed Biscuit   STATUE .      h :   36 cm.

Capital  and impressif  figure in  " GLAZED  BISCUIT  FAMILLE  VERTE " .
Very elaborate and extremely well detailed representation of the legendary  : "
 "   GOD OF WAR  :   GUANDI   " .   Seated on a rockwork throne ; one hand resting on the left knee, the other raised to hold his long  beard between his fingers . He is  dressed in official military armor, his upper-dress very well  detailed  with a dragon ,clouds etc... the face is extremely-well modelled with all possible details  ( as in real )  .

Period:       mid  QING  dynasty  .

Provenance:     from the collection of the late mrs. L.Michiels ( important  dealer and expert in Belgium in the '60 -'80 ), who bought the figure  in  1968  by Sidney L. Moss ( label n° 01456 ) .

Enamel on biscuit ( biscuit émaillé ) is a technique ,where the enamel glazes were applied on prefired and unglazed porcelain bodies. They were the fired a second time at lower t° . This technique was well suited to fine modeling and complexe shapes, as the present figure .
